Barriers on NCN14 at Tyne Dock. Designed to slow cyclists on the approach to the crossing.

Informal crossing over the A185 in Jarrow

Pretty but appalling barrier where RCR11 leaves Monkton Lane and heads north along the old rail line towards the Tyne

New (2020) A-frame barrier on RCR11 just beside Monkton Lane in Jarrow

The rather odd piece of public art beside RCR11 next to Monkton Lane. Like an ancient skeleton

Ocean Drive - excellent, wide pavements

This is the covid 19 sign telling cyclists they should dismount. On an A road (A183 in Whitburn). Council logo on so my council tax is being wasted on this. I feel an email to a councillor coming on https://t.co/xgMC3dh2Dm

Nice example of filtered permeability

Be careful as the 3m shared path abruptly ends before joining the cycle path

Brand new junction. 4 stages to cross one road. Terrible

Tank trap adjacent to NCN1

Covered cycle parking in South Shields

New bicycle parking at Brockley Whins Metro station

Stupid thoughtless alignment of cycle lane

Pointless avoidable barrier when a bollard would have done just fine

Desire lines bypassing barrier

The shared path along the river Don in South Tyneside

Cycle parking at Brockley Whins metro station

Bikes are allowed on the Shields Ferry

Shared-use footway with tactiles, next to closed-off road. Can cyclists not be trusted to cycle safely on the road in this low-traffic environment?

Shared use footway with bus shelter blocking full width of pedestrian half, on NCN14

Segregated footway/cycleway on NCN14 Western Approach, South Shields

British-style cycle path, NCN14

Needlessly sharp corner at turn from path onto shared use footway of main road, on NCN14.

New section of NCN14 path, above new Tyne road tunnel

plenty of cycle parking stands next to the Jarrow Crusade statue outside Morrisons in Jarrow.

Footpath across Morrisons car park looking towards NCN14 Not sure if this is an official cycleway.

Link across road from NCN14 to Morrisons. There are some dropped kerbs a short distance away, but an oppertunity has been missed for a decent well marked cycle junction

NCN14 at Jarrow, with the widest zebra crossing I have seen

Looking South along NCN14 where it crosses Salem Street in Jarrow

Hope Street leading west from Priory Road in Jarrow. Quiet no-through road leading to Jarrow town centre and Morrisons

River Don Footpath/Cycleway where it meets Church bank and the NCN14 in Jarrow next to Jarrow Monastery and Bede's world museum

A mosaic artwork set into the River Don Footpath/Cycleway in Jarrow

Restricted height underpass below the A185. Connects sections of NCN14

Exit off the footpath alongside the A19 heading to the A184 underpass

Another unsigned junction on the River Don Footpath/Cycleway. Left Heads up to the Tyne Tunnel, and joins NCN14. Right heads to Newlyn drive on the Simonside Estate

The underpass under the A19 on the River Don Footpath/cycleway. Keep your head low! Also avoid this route after very heavy rainfall as it can flood

Another unsigned junction on the River Don Footpath/Cycleway. Left heads up to a local housing estate. Right passes under the A19 to join to NCN14

View along the River Don Footpath/Cycleway adjacent to Jarrow Cemetery (may not want to cycle this on Halloween)!

The River Don Footpath/Cycleway north junction with Cemetery Road in Jarrow.

The River Don Footpath/cycleway where it crosses Cemetery Road in Jarrow

Another fiendish barrier on a cycleway, this time the River Don footpath/cycleway, which is impossible to cycle through

Bridge over the River Don

Another unsigned junction on the River Don Footpath/Cycleway. Right fork is the correct one for following the route to Jarrow The post indicates there may have been a sign which has been removed

An unsigned fork on the River Don footpath/cycleway though Jarrow. Keep right. The left fork goes up to housing on Ecgfried Terrace

cycleway adjacent to Brockley Whins Metro Station

cycle/foot path junction Right fork goes to Brockley Whins Metro & left to Boldon Colleriey & Asda etc. Only ground sign is a faded "splodge" of green tarmac. The sign has been graffittied out. Do we not deserve better?

A1300 John Reid road. To cross the dual carriage way cycles have to use the pedestrian crossing, which has this strange barrier arrangement reminiscent of a cattle market!

A1300 John Reid Road. Brocket Whims traffic lights. Bus exit only installed 2yrs ago. Very poor cycling provision though.

Tyne dock - Simonside cycleway. If heading east then turn right onto the road.

Tyne dock - Simonside cycleway. Take this path. Again completely unmarked If travelling east, turn left for Simonside and Brockley Whins or turn right to Simonside Metro

Tyne dock -Simonside cycle way. Looking towards Tyne dock. Completely unmarked and unsigned!

Tyne dock - Simonside cycle way. Head over to the path on the other side. A dropped kerb in the wrong location

The Tyne dock - Simonside cycle way. Go straight on for Simonside.

The cycleway between Tyne dock and Simonside

The pedestrian & cycle bridge over Boldon Lane.

The single cycle way specific sign post on the way from Tyne Dock to Simonside

The 2 rivers cycleway where it crosses Westoe Rd. Barriered. You are forced to use the pedestrian refuge to the left. Fail!

This is designated by the council as cycleway.no signs, or even a dropped kerb. Nothing

This is supposed to be a cycleway, but there's no signs or anything

Left hand path crosses A194 via a pedestrian bridge. Right hand drops down to road level to cross over

A waste of paint - I cant work out why those giveways are there! Location: Westoe, South Shields (England, United Kingdom) 2 Rivers cycleway in South Shields.

Throckley Way, South Shields Path off the road, up and over the railway to Simonside

West Harton Mineral Line, South Shields Northern end. Stanley Street and Boldon lane are off to the right.

Green Lane, South Shields. Entrance onto the West Harton Mineral Line Cycleway heading south Why dropped kerbs were not installed when the level crossing & rail lines removed is odd.
